⚖️ Keeping Politics Out of the Courtroom

Matthew Flower - Nonpartisan

Matthew L. Flower, Candidate for Magisterial District Judge, 03-3-02 – Northampton County
Mar 23, 2025

In an election year, it’s easy for everything to feel political. Every issue becomes polarized, every race becomes partisan, and every headline seems to carry a message about left or right. But when it comes to the judiciary — and especially our local courts — the mission must be different.

Justice is not supposed to lean red or blue. It’s supposed to stand for fairness.

That’s why I’m running for Magisterial District Judge in District 03-3-02 with one core promise: to approach each case without political influence, bias, or agenda.

⚖️ The Role of a District Judge

Magisterial District Judges are often the first point of contact many people have with the legal system. Whether it's a traffic citation, a landlord-tenant dispute, a summary offense, or a preliminary hearing, these local courts set the tone for public trust in our judicial system.

This role isn't about passing laws. It's not about political platforms. It’s about applying the law fairly to every individual — regardless of their background, party affiliation, income level, or social standing.

🧭 Why Impartiality Matters

I’ve spent years working with people from all walks of life — in operations, in community leadership, and as a parent and union steward. What matters most in any of those roles is listening without bias and making decisions based on facts — not assumptions or politics.

I’ve also worked alongside Democrats, Republicans and Independent voters in our community — organizing around local issues where we found common ground for the good of Moore Township and Northampton County. Whether it was opposing reckless development or defending individual rights, the focus has always been on doing what’s right, not what’s politically popular.

Courts should be places of calm, consistency, and clarity — not campaign rhetoric.

That doesn’t mean judges aren’t human. But it does mean that we must set aside personal beliefs and apply the law the same way to everyone. That’s what builds public trust. That’s what earns respect. And that’s what I intend to do if elected.

🤝 A Message of Bipartisan Trust

In this election, I’m proud to say that I’m appearing on both the Republican and Democratic ballots for Magisterial District Judge. Members of the community — from both parties — placed their trust in me by signing petitions to nominate me to represent their respective parties.

To me, that says something meaningful: people recognize that the role of judge should rise above party lines.

This isn’t about being the most political candidate — it’s about being the most fair, capable, and impartial one.

💬 What I Believe

🗳️ A Vote for Fairness

This race — and this role — is not about advancing a political cause. It’s about delivering equal justice under the law to every person who walks into the courtroom, with the seriousness and respect they deserve.

If elected, I will approach this role with humility, impartiality, and a strong respect for the rule of law. That means keeping politics out of the courtroom and keeping fairness at the center of everything I do.

Thank you for taking the time to read and to care about how your local courts are run. I would be honored to earn your support.
